Top Shelf Disco
LABEL OF THE WEEK #008
Top Shelf Disco started as a DJ collective in 2018, throwing events and playing parties all around the greater Los Angeles area, their focus was a special blend of dance music: groovers, Disco and overall feel-good House music. The aim was to get away from the saturated sound of Tech-House and Bass House commonly found in their native Southern California.
When the pandemic shut the world down in 2020 and live events were put on pause, the co-founders of Top Shelf Disco decided to add an arrow to their quiver and start up a record label. The idea was to bring the same vibe from the clubs to headphones, car stereos and home entertainment systems, by releasing music that fans could stream and download.
With 17 official releases already, the label’s next offering drops this Friday (April 22nd), courtesy of Toolroom Academy alum Nate NoFun with a track called ’Sassy’, a peak-hour, dance floor destroyer. The likes of Toolroom Radio are supporting ‘Sassy’ and the label has a string of hot releases lined up for the summer of 2022, while their live event series fires up again in and around LA and California.
Top Shelf Disco was co-founded by Drake Atlee (Twinflame) and Zach Rodriguez (Pepe Silvia), with help from Jon Gilman (Racket Club), Jake Clavette (clavette) and Cameron Rosales (Rozegarden). Each individual has his own artist project featuring releases on and off Top Shelf Disco.
