London based label Tropical Velvet has been releasing tracks of the highest and funkiest order since establishing themselves on the scene with fresh and cutting edge house music back in 2014.
Established by label owner KORT aka Ben Webb, the label has been working with both the best up and coming artists, as well as many established ones. Ben is also the brainchild behind sister label Velvet Bassment Records which focuses more on the underground side of house but always managing to keep that little bit of funk in the trunk for the dance floor...
Other key personnel at the labels include producers Antony Harper, Wade Teo and Patrick Meeks, as well as radio host Hurricane Meesh and head of art & design, John Mason.
Tropical Velvet’s biggest releases to date come courtesy of David Penn and Lisa Millet’s ‘Join Us’, KORT & Phil Castle’s ‘Call My Name’ and KORT & Elementary ft. Jessie Matthews' ‘Warning’. The label feel that 2022 is going to be their strongest year to date, with their latest releases from Jet Boot Jack and KORT’s live band KulaKingz featuring the legendary Leroy Burgess, while hot new offerings from Sweet L.A, Emma Black and Ladies On Mars, Saavedra Funk are forthcoming.
The label keep the tunes coming and have just celebrated their 8th birthday last weekend, at Kent’s Cin Cin Bar which included live PA’s, musicians, DJ’s and dancers, all enjoying the special carnival atmosphere!
