Glasgow Underground

LABEL OF THE WEEK #010

Glasgow Underground is the consistently strong and prolific house label owned by Scottish electronic musician, producer and DJ Kevin McKay.

Set up in 1997, it is a vocal, deep and tech house label that has been home to artists such as Romanthony, DJ Q, Mateo & Matos, Pascal Rioux, Rose Smith, Muzique Tropique, Milton Jackson and DJ Mashand. More recently, the label has seen releases from Paluma, Westend, Brett Rubin, Kevin McKay, Tom Savage, Francesco Poggi, Sam Dexter, Terri-Anne, Moreno Pezzolato, Sam Supplier and many more.

McKay began the label releasing his own music and collaborations with friends and other Glasgow-based artists. Through his DJing and work for various music magazines, he met some of his favourite producers of the time (Romanthony, Mateo & Matos, Idjut Boys, etc) some of which released tracks via the label.

In 2011, McKay resurrected the label to release a number of compilations and singles. Today, they are one of the most prolific independent house labels in the UK with a strong successful presence on essential digital outlets such as Beatport and Traxsource, often topping their prestigious sales charts.

Here at CD Pool, we’re especially grateful for their ever impressive roster, as well as the superbly produced remakes of house and dance classics.
