Leading UK-based independent record label, 3Beat, home to artists such as Sigma, Jonasu, Kungs, High Contrast, Philip George, Callum Beattie and others, are one of the most-important dance labels in recent years, with an impressive string of club and chart hits to their name.
Based in Liverpool, 3 Beat Music was founded in 1989 as a dance music record shop. In 1991 Jon Barlow and team launched the independent record label 3 Beat Music which released records by, and had chart success with, artists such as D:Fuse, New Atlantic, Pianoman and Powerhouse.
In 2003 along with A&R executive Anton Powers and label manager Tim Condran, they set up Boss Records, with a distribution deal through Ministry Of Sound releasing numerous singles with hit records by artists such as Angel City, Aaron Smith, Mason versus Princess Superstar and Studio B. In 2007, after Boss Records' contract with Ministry Of Sound had expired, they founded 3Beat Productions with distribution through Universal. They released hit records by artists such as Agnes, Cahill, Ian Carey, Duck Sauce, Alexandra Stan, Philip George, Fuse ODG, Inna, Cheryl and Skepta. In 2011, the label achieved its first UK No. 1 single with ‘Loca People’ by Sak Noel.
In the 2020s, artists who have released records via 3Beat include Liverpool singer-songwriter Jetta and producer Jonasu, who reached the Top 3 in 2021 with his song ‘Black Magic’. Other notable artists include High Contrast, Crvvcks, Sigma, Kungs, R3hab , Just Kiddin, ManyFew, THRDL!FE, Origin8a & Propa & Benny Page.
